After seven years of living here, I was stunned to see this woodpecker for the first time in my life. Then I would see them just a couple times each year...the Cartoon, Woody Wood Pecker was modeled after this Pileated Woodpecker...Missouri's largest. This morning he just so happened to land right outside the window.
