I made a Blue Bird House...Yaaay.

After I installed this Blue Bird house today, Wrens began to make a nest in it about 3 hours later.

Missouri Skink

Meet my little Skink friend, found today under a rock in Festus Missouri.

It has happened again.  Our cat brought me this today.  So far she has brought me mice, meadow voles, a Shrewmole, and now a Mousemole.  The Missouri Conservation guy says he is a Prairie Vole.

" Dad Look, A Worm!"

Little Jo Jo and I stepped of the front porch and she pointed to what she thought was a worm.  I caught it and of course had some pics taken of it.  It's a Garter Snake...only have seen 3 in the past 5 yrs.

Fat Lizard

Yes, I caught this fat Lizard with my bare hands today as it ran across my back yard.  Normally Lizards are just to fast to catch, but this lizard must be eating a lot of cupcakes and Mc Donalds.  Maybe I should start a petition and send it to The First Lady, Michelle Obama to limit the availability of junk foods to Lizards.  It's for their own good you know. 

Shrewmole?

I found this today... probably killed by our cat Cricket.  I think it is a Shrewmole.   I love living in the country.

The shrew mole occurs in extreme northwestern U.S. (near coasts of CA, OR, WA).
I expect that your animal is either a short-tailed shrew or a least shrew, both of which are native Missouri mammals. The short-tailed shrew is about 3 or more inches long and is dark gray above. The least shrew will be less than 3.25 inches long and is dark brown to brownish gray above.

The Critters Are Out.

This morning our cat Cricket brought me another Vole with blood running down it's head.  Michaiah, Jo and I then found a tiny Scorpion smaller than a dime.  Then we found this black and yellow spotted salamander.  The woods are coming alive.
